Retrieving Outlook contacts and old emails

Hello,

I recently suffered drive errors and had to replace my hard drive. However I
still have the old one and while it won't work as the primary unit (black
screen of death) I can still access data from it as a secondary drive.

I CAN NOT RUN OUTLOOK on the old drive so I can't make a pst file. But
somewhere the contact and email data has to be stored right? I can access the
/program files(x86)/microsoft office/office12/ directory though on the old
drive. So as mentioned theoretically I would assume I can get the data.
Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance!!

Outlook doesn't store the data in that location.
If you were NOT connecting to Exchange Server or IMAP (i.e if your email was
POP) then you already DO have a pst file.
Enable Hidden files and folders in your search engine to find it.

A copy of SpinRite may be worth buying if you wish to recover this drive.

You must reinstall Outlook on your current boot drive in order for it to run
again. Then you must connect your old PST to your new mail profile. The old
file is likely to be in x:\Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook if your PC was running Windows XP
or x:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook for WIndows Vista or 7.
