Every time I hit the return key, the format changes. I've tried deletin
the style that it changes to from the style options (under format), bu
it won't allow me, saying it is a permanent option, or something lik
that.

i have no idea how this happened, or how to change it, and would lov
some help because i am going insane trying to write, and my fon
changing every time i hit return...

Change the following style in your style definition to the same style as
your chosen style. It is currently configured to change to the different
style.

Go to Format | Style and select the style you want to keep. Click Modify...
and change the "Style for following paragraph" from the unwanted style to
the same style. That is, if your preferred style is Body Text and you're
getting Body Text First Indent when you press Enter, go to Format | Style:
Body Text, Modify..., and change the following style from Body Text First
Indent to Body Text.

Note that the following style for all headings is set to be Normal (though I
usually change this to some flavor of Body Text). If you're trying to enter
a lot of headings at one time, I believe you can get around this by using
Outline view. If the heading styles will be the entire document (you're
using heading styles to create an outline), then you will need not only to
change the following style but also to remove the "Keep with next" property
from the heading style; otherwise they'll all try to stick together in a
clump, and you'll end up with "infinite repagination."
