Return Receipt Question

B

Brian Cipriano

Hello:

A user today had over 800 "not read" return receipts returned to his Inbox
over a period of 30 minutes. The user has a Read Requst on all E-mails he
sends. The receipts were addressed From User A: To User A, even though the
actual E-mails were sent to User B, User C, User D, etc.

It is my understanding if User A: sends an E-mail to User B, and User B
deletes the message, then clears it from his/her Deleted Items folder, User
A will receive a return receipt message not read from User B.

In this case User A received a return receipt from himself (i.e., User A)
and some of the receipts were from over a year old. Over 800 of these
receipts started "kicking in" this morning.

Does anyone have an explanation as to what is occuring? Thank you.
