Yes. Uninstall it from the laptop before returning it.

You cannot install a retail version of Office over a trial version

You have to uninstall any and all versions of Office shown in Add/Remove
dialogue, also any Activation assistant, then clear temp files & reboot,
prior to installing your paid for version.

If you have some other vailid reason for returning your Laptop you might
want to restore it to factort specs first
Your installation from your purchased cd/dvd doesnt count for anything, for
seversl reasons, So simply install it on your new PC & activate. You can
install as often as you like provided the number of working PC's doesnt
exceed the Licence limit

Afaik you don't have "3 pc usages" unless you have Home and Student. That
said, three usages is three concurrent usages. You can install this program
over and over again, as long as you don't exceed three installations at the
same time. For other suites where one or two installations is allowed, the
same applies.

If you transfer ownership of a computer to someone else, such as when you
return your laptop for the refund, you are expected to remove any commercial
paid for software you have installed on it. When you do that, you get your
usage back.
