Reverse conversion to Entourage

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I have for sometime had a happy and trouble free time using Eudora email and iCal for calendars (synced with my iphone) on my macbook pro.

I was recently 'upgraded' to Entourage but the IT people in my organisation, mostly to allow compatibility with Outlook etc (I work in a mostly PC environment).

Needless to say that the migration has been a total nightmare, with only half my email folders coming over, no functioning calendar and no syncing with iphone.

I would desparately like to revert to Eudora but find that Entourage has become the preferred email programme. How can I reverse this?

I am willing to have another go at converting to Entourage, but only if I have access to good information page, online manual and tutes.

Thanks in advance

Hi John,

you can find many answers on the Entourage Help Page.

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/>

The default e-mail application is set in Apple Mail. Open Mail, click on
Mail>Preferences, and in the General tab, you can choose your default
e-mail application from the dropdown list.

Thanks for this. Yes, the default in Mail>preferences>general is Eudora, but this is not the case. When i download from Eudora nothing comes down.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that something called Office Outlook Web Access has been installed (which appears to be the new server into which my email goes before coming down to Entourage)?

Hi John
Thanks for this. Yes, the default in Mail>preferences>general is Eudora,
but this is not the case. When i download from Eudora nothing comes down.

Do you mean that when you attempt to download new messages in Eudora,
you don't get any?

Outlook Web Access is simply a browser interface for the Exchange server
which your company is using. There might have been some modifications to
the Exchange server which require you to change some settings in Eudora
and Entourage. But in this particular case, I would consider getting
some tech support from someone at your company for Entourage, as it
allows you to connect to the Exchange server directly (as opposed to the
IMAP access which Eudora has to use). Entourage is certainly not as
feature-complete as Outlook on Windows, but of all the solutions
available, it offers the most features to Mac users who need to connect
to Exchange.

When i download from Eudora nothing comes down.

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

Your tech support should be able to help you. Usually it's under the
Advanced Settings that the settings are missing or incorrect.

Yes, I can send but not receive email from Eudora. So from advice above looks like I have a bad POP or IMAP config.

Where do I find "Advanced settings"? Cant find anything with this name in Eudora preferences.

Hi John,

"advanced settings" is a generic term; it has probably got a different
name in Eudora. You simply need to find out where you can enter incoming
server data in Eudora. Having never used Eudora, I can't tell you if
that is done in Preferences, or if there is an Accounts menu. This
question might best be asked in a different group or forum, as this is a
Eudora setting, and most people in here use Entourage. You could always
try Eudora's help feature and see if it gives you the instructions you
require.

Many thanks Michael

Will seek out some Eudora support. Appreciate your advice.
