Reverting to Previous Version of Office Pro

E

emanon

I attended a New Day launch in my city and received a copy of Office 2007
Pro. It took a few tries to download my copies, my session kept timing out
because the server was getting hammered so hard! If after using the new
version, will I have any problems if I need to go back to Office 2000 (my
previous version that I own and have license keys for)?

I am not talking about Office 2007 backwards compatibility issues, I'm
prepared for that, but I am worried about any residual pieces of Office 2007
that may prevent the reinstallation of Office 2000.

It would also be ideal if I find I can Mix-n-Match pieces of Office 2007
with Office 2000. For example: if I'd want to keep Outlook 2007 and Access
2007, but run the rest of the Office 2000 suite.

If you wish to use components from two versions the MS advice is to install
earliest version components first, in Office2k case, by custom install to a
version specific folder, then update, prior to installing later version.

Thanks for the Mix-n-Match part answer. What about reverting totally? If I
run into too many compatibility issues with other people, or find no
advantage to Office 2007, the only real answer may be to go BACK to Office
2000. Will I be able to do that?

Again, I'm not talking about document backwards compatible issues, but some
piece of Office 2007, even after uninstalling Office 2007, preventing the
reinstallation of Office 2000.

I believe O2007 docs can be saved in earlier version format.
O2k is now three versions 'old' and is no longer supported by MS (tech
support, I'm sure it must be coming to the end of update support)

I really don't care about how far back Office 2000 is, or support. I never
found a need for it to do anything more than it did. I want to know that I
*can* go back if I so choose. I want to be able, if Office 2007 *does not*
provide me with anything more *than I need*, to go back to a version that I
know.

uninstalling 2007 should do just that, I cannot comment as to whether it
will leave any remnents

i dont think you wil have any problems if you try uninstalling office 2007
and install office 2k as fresh copy. I'll recommend a detect and repair after
the install though. If you run into any sort of problems... i'll recommend
you calling up MS tech support. AND MS Tech support is still active for
Office 2k and installation issues are free of cost. So dont worry

How do I run a "detect and repair"?
