Reviewing pane unreadable (tiny font)

The reviewing pane is no longer readable. Condition began several days
ago and persists through all documents. Sometimes I'm able to see the
font controls stating that Word is displaying it in 4 point, but when
that is visible, it is not changeable, but is grayed out.

Hi Shannon,

This may sound kinda stupid, but I've noticed that a few applications
use your Internet Explorer settings.

For example, I'll have the font really small on my browser so I can
get a lot on the page, but then if I click on "Help" in MS Word, the
help is in the same font size as I set in Internet Explorer.

That might not help you, but it's worth a shot... Just open internet
explorer, click on "View" in the menu bar, then float your pointer
down to "Text Size". Then select Medium or Large. Then try the
reviewing pane again & see if that made a difference. You may have to
restart Word...

I've been using Microsoft's products for a long time, and "kinda
stupid" does seem descriptive of some of their decisions. However, in
this place I'm pretty sure it cannot be the cause. My eyes are not as
young as they once were, and all of my controllable font settings are
set on the large size, not the small.

My own theory is that the contamination came from a normal.dot file,
but I can't seem to find it for this version of Word... It's the kind
of problem that was cured by stomping on normal.dot in earlier
versions of Word.

Thanks for the idea, anyway. The problem is still persisting here, and
remains very annoying.

If my theory of a file-based contagion is accurate, then perhaps one
'solution' would be to start actively circulating 'contaminated' Word
files on the Internet? Perhaps it would become an epidemic and
Microsoft would become behooved to address the problem? (Or maybe I'm
the one who's already been infected? If so, the infection is still in
it's early stages...)
