right mouse click causes word to not respond

In the last few months when I have clicked the right mouse button in Word the program has simply stopped running. Then I need to use the force quit command to close the program and start again.

The right mouse button seemed to work fine before and it works with other programs.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I be you have a contextual menu item that interacts very poorly with
Word.
Check in /Library/Contextual Menu Items
and ~/Library/Contextual Menu Items

Hi Corentin, thanks for your reply, but I do not know what a contextual menu item is?

Where is the library (is it on this Mactopia website)?

I tried deleting all (5) of my macros and removing the macro button I put on one of my ruler bars, but that did not work.

contextual menu is what normally come up when you click either the right
mouse button, or for one button mouse - control key held down , then
click mouse button

The Library folders Corentin referred to are on your local HD... One is at
the root level the other is at the User level.

Hi Bob

Thanks for the information. The contextual menu item files on my root looked fine, but the one on my user level included a relatively new item from SugarSync. I quit the SugarSync program and tried using the right mouse button in MS Word and it seems to work fine.

You guys are geniuses. Thanks for all your replies!

Nah... Don't make us blush :) Mostly we just reiterate what we or others
have found from experience. In fact, there was another reported issue
involving that same program earlier this week.

Thanks for taking the time to confirm.

I've had tons of contextual menu items issues lately (plus they don't
work in the Finder anymore in Snow Leopard) so it was an issue very very
close to my mind.
Pure luck,

Corentin
