rights issues trying to open Access 97 .mdbs in access 2002

Why is it that when I try to open my Acces97 MDBs using Access2002 I get all
sorts of errors about not this user account doesn't have permission to
convert or enable the database?? Whats this all about???

sorts of errors about not this user account doesn't have permission to
convert or enable the database?? Whats this all about???

The 97 file has security applied and the default user has permissions to open
the file but not to administer it. When a 97 file is opened in 2000 or 2002 the
system normally asks if you want to convert it to the new version, but you
require administer permissions to do that.
