How do I get Outlook reminders to alert me if Outlook is
not currently open? Is there a way or what? I have set
up a couple of reminders, but if the program is not
actively running, there are no reminders.

You can use third party programs to set reminders if Outlook is not open -

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
