Roman and Arabic numbers in SEQ

B

Bette Beau

Running 2003 on XP. Got a doc that has SEQ numbering. The code is:
ARTICLE{seq level0\h\r0}{seq level1\h\r0} etc. to level 7 and the last entry
is {seq level0\r1\*ROMAN)
This displays ARTICLE I
The next level down is has this code: {seq level0\c\*ROMAN}.{seq level1\r1
\*arabic} This displays as : I.1, with numbers until article five
displaying as V.1, V.2, etc.
I want it to display as 1.1, 1.2, etc. I tried replacing the ROMAN with
arabic, but it didn't change anything. I have spent hours trying to figure
this out. Using reveal formating and styles, they are no styles or outlining
that show. Any help would be soooo appreciated. Also the toc when generated
prints fine and has this code:
{toc\f\C\e1-3}. I know that it's saying use the TC entries instead of
outline levels, but I wasn't able to find "e" as a switch.

Thanks for your time and help

They do re-evalute automatically. I'm just trying to have them display as a
1.1 , 2.1, etc under the Roman numberal headings instead of I.1, II.1. I
didn't create the document (50+ pages) and it's hard to troubleshoot!

Have you used Print Preview or Ctrl+A then press F9 to select all of the
text update all of the fields.

They only evaluate when you do something that causes them to re-evaluate
(e.g. ctrl-A, then F9, as Doug suggests, or perhaps go into print
preview and out again).

No, I didn't and now that I have I see the code that you provided does work!
There are over a hunded entries I need to update. I tried in Replace but it
didn't see the text in the fields. I recorded a macro that selects the text
and deletes it, but I need to do it for every entry. If you have a better
idea, please let me know. Thanks again for your help. I forgot about
updating fields.

Thank you so much for providing the update information and the code. That's
what did the trick! Thank you again – the correct knowledge goes a long way!!

It sounds as if Doug may have sorted you out already, but if not, as
long as you use Alt-F9 to display the field /codes/ rather than the
field /results/, Edit->Replace should find and replace what you need.
