rotating text

I've read some of the posts about rotating text (by using
cut and then paste special as a picture), and also looked
on the FAQ. But when I try it, although the pasted in text
looks OK and will rotate, it comes with a very wide extra
bit of blank space to the right of it so that when I click
on it there are two grips to the left by the text and two
mor grips on the other side of the page at the other end
of the blank bit. What am I doing wrong? I'm using Word
2002 on xp.

I have now, but your example shows the same thing; it's as
if the cut and paste actually takes an entire line rather
than just the selected word. I know it's useable but if
you're trying to position text near the edge of the page
there's a danger of the other end going off the page
entirely which I suspect means it may be less likely to
stay put when printing or converting to pdf. Anyway I
guess this is a Word thing and I'm not actually doing it
wrong. So maybe I'll just stick to wordart. Thanks for
replying.

If you set the layout of the pasted image to anything other than in-line,
you can move it where you want.

But that doesn't get around the fact that it's the width of an entire line
even if it's just a few words. I suppose you could crop it, however.

Thanks. I didn't realise they would be cropable.

I haven't tried that, and in fact I'm not sure why it didn't occur to me
before. Or perhaps I have tried it and it didn't work?
