Rotating Timeline Shape

A

Alcide LaVassar

I am trying to add a timeline shape to my flow chart. The
flow chart goes top-to-bottom on a legal size page. When I
drag the various timeline shapes over I can't rotate them.
I went to Select|Shape|Format|Protection|Rotation(Off, but
that didn't work.

How do I turn off protection so I can do what I want with
a shape?

I am using Visio 2002 Standard

I'm curious as to why protection is even set! Is it that way immediately
after you drop the shape onto your layout? I'm not getting that, and I was
able to rotate a new timeline immediately (using 2003, but this
functionality is the same in both versions).

Do you have the latest service pack installed?

Protection is indeed the default on drop. I have to check
with my IT person on whether the update has been installed.

Anyone else have this going on in VS 2002?

Alcide,

Visio 2002 does not support rotation of timelines, but this feature was
added to the Visio 2003 version. The shapes themselves are protected from
rotating in both versions, but if you drop them onto a rotated timeline in
Visio 2003, they will adjust their rotation to match the timeline.

That explains it! Thanks Dawn

I owe you an apology: I thought the feature was available in 2002, but Dawn
has corrected me on that. Blame my bad memory!
