Row and column headings hidden

When a certain spreadsheet is open, Excel doesn't display the column headings
A, B, C, ... or the row headings 1, 2, 3. Why is this and how can I set it
to display them?

Try this:
Tools>Options>View
Check: Row & Column Headings

Does that help?
