Row Captions AND Column Captions Possible?

I think Window|Freeze panes will work.

Show the topleftcell that you always want to see (probably A1???).

Then select a column that is to the right of the columns you want to always see.
and select a cell in the row that is right below the rows you want to see.

So if you always want to see columns A:C and rows 1:3, you'd select D4.
Then window|freeze panes.

You may want to apply data|filter|autofilter, too. This can make finding things
much easier.

If you've never used Data|Filter|Autofilter, take a trip to Debra Dalgleish's
site:

I've got 3,000+ mutual funds as my rows and up to 250 Returns for columns.
The column headers are ReturnDate and the row headers are firm & fund name (two
cols).

Once they get a few columns out and a few funds down, I don't see how the users
are going to navigate this thing reliably without seein both the firm/fund and
return date.

SplitScreen and FreezePanes seem like they're mutually exclusive.

But I've got a dim recollection from somewhere of designating both row and
column headers.

Seems like such a logical function that maybe there's hope.

Only workaround I can think of is to greybar the presentation.

Any thoughts?
