row total does not account for filter

Hi,
i've been using ssas 2000 (worked fine) and recently converted to 2005. i
have a strange situation regarding the grand total on rows.

if i have a dimension in the column area and select a couple of items from
it, the Grand Total is displaying the amount as if there were no filters set.

is there a setting i've missed to have it total only what's on the screen?
