RPC over HTTPS

I have been testing RPC over HTTPS to be able to use Outlook at home to
connect to my mail server at work. I got it working yesterday, but when it
downloaded everything, it took the emails in my Inbox off of the mail server.
All mail in the sent mail and my Old mail folders are still there (and I have
copies of them on my computer at home), just the Inbox emails are gone. They
are all on my computer at home, so I can get them easily. I was under the
impression that RPC over HTTPS worked similarly to IMAP in that the messages
stayed on the server and were remotely managed. Is this not the case? I am
running Outlook at home in Cached Exchange Mode, although the article at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;833401 - "How to
configure RPC over HTTP on a single server in Exchange Server 2003" said to
disable Cached Excahnge mode for testing the RPC connection, so I did, and
after testing enabled Cached Exchange mode. Could this be the problem? Also,
is there any way to sync the Inbox on the server with the Inbox at my house?
