Rule only works once

I have a rule to forward messages and then file in a different folder and
mark as read. It works great. Once. After it processes one incoming
message correctly, I have to exit Outlook and re-enter. Then it will
correctly process the next applicable incoming message. What's wrong?
Thanks!

Does it work if you split it into 2 consecutive rules, one to forward a
copy of the message, and another to then move and mark as read?

I have tried splitting into two rules. It will only forward the first email
I receive. Thanks for your help...

Does the subsequent "move and mark as read" rule still get exercised
against the other messages (presuming you don't have a stop-clause in a
prior rule that is triggering)?

The "mark and move as read" rule still works, but not on messages that I have
tried to forward. I have reduced the rule to just "when messages from X
containing Y in the subject are received, forward them to Z and stop
processing more rules" and still it only works the first time a message
meeting the criteria is processed. It is the first rule in my list. I
appreciate your persistence!!

Disable (don't delete) all other rules and then test using only the one
rule.

Start Outlook in safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe"). If your rule then
works on subsequent messages, perhaps an add-in is interfering with the
operation of your rules.

Otherwise, try running Detect and Repair (under the Help menu).

Are you polling a *real* POP3 server, or some pseudo-POP3 server, like
Gmail's? The POP3 service at Gmail does NOT behave correctly with POP3.
