Rules and 2003 Spam filter...

B

bloodfart

This from Microsoft help...

Rules are now designed so that they do not act on messages that have
been moved to the Junk E-mail folder. This keeps e-mail considered to
be junk in the correct place rather than moving it to another folder
according to the rule.

How insane. How can I turn this off?

What is insane? If mail is marked as junk, why would you want any rule to
act on it???

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, bloodfart asked:

It's insane because my rules should supercede the junk filter.
Obviously the junk determination isn't perfect... but my rules are.
Simple logic.

I agree with bloodfart. I have a situation where I check my junkemail folder
often and I also get floods that take up space that I want to permently
delete with a rule.

Any workarounds?

Are the floods moving to the junk folder? Set up autoarchive to run every
day or so and configure the junk folder (and deleted items) to have
autoarchive delete items older than a day or so. This gives you a couple of
days to look for lost messages and keeps the folders empty.

Hi Diane,
Thanks for replying. Yes the floods come into the junk email folder. It just
makes it difficult to check through this folder for possible good emails with
tons of floods. It would be nice to have the floods that I choose permenantly
deleted and still be able to periodically check the Junk email folder.
