Rules and RSS feeds?

I am trying to put certain items from one RSS feed into a seperate folder as
they arrive, the problem is that if I create a rule applicable to one RSS
feed, the other feeds all start to be moved to to a different unrelated
folder and become mixed. How do I create a rule that is applied to one RSS
and leaves the others alone in their original RSS folders?
MSOutlook 2007 on Vista 64 Ultimate

You'll have to make the rules specific enough so that it only applies to
those messages that you actually want to move. Apparently your rule is too
generic now.

I'm not sure I understand. The rule is specific enough that it does what I
want it to do, ie seperate items with specific subjects from the rest of 1
feed, leaving the rest of that feed in the correct RSS folder. It however as
the unintended consequence that all other feeds are redirected to a mail
folder. Neither the feeds nor the mail folder are mentioned in the rule yet
it still moves them?

So you might have other rules then which apply to your RSS items?
Remember; I cannot look over your shoulder. From the info provided I can
only guess what is going on at your side.

Hi Roady, I appreciate your help. I do have some other rules. The only rule
which directs incoming mail to that folder specifically states:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
through the xx account
and on this machine only
move it to the xx folder

My other rules are identical in format and designed to seperate mail in my
inbox according to the exact address it is sent to.

I have a total of 5 RSS feeds. I have set up the following rule to split
some items out of one feed:


Apply this rule after the message arrives
with 'word1' or 'word2'or 'word3' in the subject
and from RSS feeds with ZZ in the title
move it to the XZ folder

In order to get this rule to work I also have to check the box
Enable rules on all RSS feeds

I am quite perplexed as to why this is happening and do hope that you or
anyone else can help.
Again I'm running Outlook 2007 on a Vista 64 Ultimate OS

In summary my problem is that my other 4 feeds now appear in my xx folder
instead of remaining in their default location under RSS folders. This of
course jumbles the feeds together and mixes in my mail being direced to the
xx folder. Since they are news feeds it means an awful lot of jumbled items
in my xx folder making new mail harder to find.

I am quite perplexed as to why this is happening and do hope that you or
anyone else can help.

Personally I wouldn't go that way. I would leave the rules for RSS disabled
and use a Search Folder and a custom view to filter which RSS items you see.
This way you keep the convenience of only seeing what you want and the ease
of administration of all RSS items are in their own feed folder. In addition
send/receive will go faster as less items and rules are being processed.

Ah yes I see how that would work. Would that also retain a copy? I need to
keep copies of the applicable items and prefer to discard the rest. I had
envisaged that Autoarchive would do it if i used rules.

If not, whilst I understand your preference not to use rules, is there any
way I could use them to make this work? The sorting time is not an issue for
me.

Other than setting the "Do not Archive" option for the items you would like
to keep, there is no way to do that.
Your issue is with the rule intended for email also applying to the RSS
feeds that you have and not with the actual rule intended to sort your RSS
feeds.

To the first rule add the condition; Except if from any RSS feed.
