"Rules" creating duplicate messages

I set up a "Junk" rule to filter spam. However, all the
messages that get put in "Deleted Messages" or a "Junk"
folder I created (I tried one first then the other) also
get put in my "INBOX." That's exactly what I was trying
to avoid and now I end up with 2 spam messages. Does
anyone have a solution? Thanks!
