Rules for alphabetizing???

Q

Qquest

Would someone please suggest where I might find the "rules" used by Office
programs (and Windows) to alphabetize data, files, etc. I know #'s first
then alphabet characters, but what about punctuation, symbols, spaces, etc.
such as:

AB Co.; A B Co.; A.B. Co.; A. B. Co.; A-B Co.; A&B Co.; A & B Co.; etc.

Please tell me where to go:):):)

Thank you, Mary. Who knew there could be so much sorting going on:):):) I
learned that sorting is based on character (ANSI and Unicode) values; a space
= 32 and B=66 (A = 65?) Now I am curiouser. Could you suggest where I might
find a list of character values?

THANK YOU, Don!!! In my simple world, a space is nothing. Only in the world
of computing is there something less than nothing:):):)

You're one of them, aren't you. One of those computer people:):):) How can
you live in a world where you start with less than nothing, work your way up
to nothing, climb all the way to the top and, poof, it's all gone. That
makes no sense.

Remember that there are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those who
understand binaty and those who don't.
