Rules icons

I now have this icon appearing on every rule I make and where it appears, the
rule will not run automatically. I have checked everything, even deleted
rules and started again. I can't get rid of it!

And just what icon is that? What version of Outlook?

The icon is a crossed hammer and wrench and is used in the "rules"
section. My Outlook is 2007.

That icon means that the rule has some action specified. The "stop
processing more rules" action, the "clear the Message flag" action, the
"assign it to the specified category" action, and more cause that icon to be
displayed. Some actions, like "move it to the specified folder" do not set
that icon, but most actions do. Why are you concerned?

Brian, I'm concerned because when they have that icon attached to
them, the rule doesn't work! I have tried breaking the rule down
into two parts (2 seperate rules) and that does work. I'm guessing
its a bug.

My point is that the icon would have nothing to do with it. What the icon
signifies might, but since you havent posted the exact definitions of your
rules and an example of a message you think should be processed by one of
those rules, there's nothing that can be done.

I did read alot on this issue but I have not seen a solution yet. I have rules set up that are very simple

"Apply this rule after the message arrives from "a e-mail address" foward it to "a e-mail address"

All my rulse that move items to other folders work fine but every fowarding or redirecting rule does not function and has the crossed hammer and wrench icon under actions.

we do have microsoft 2003 exchange server but I'm running outlook 2007 on a Vista machine.

Any ideas?

That icon simply means there is an action associated with the rule. Instead
of the "from a person or distribution list" condition, have you tried the
"with specific words in the sender's address" condition?

Yes I have some with "Specific words in the subject line" that don't work either. Anything that is being forwarded to another e-mail adress wont go. All the people I'm trying to foward to are on the same server including I am. Could the server be blocking them?

If they were external accounts, then I might be able to explain it. If
you're all on the same Exchange server, I'm unsure of the explanation.
