Rules : Move itens stored in sent itens to personal folders

F

Filipe

Hi,

Do you know if there is some way to configure a rule for all message that I
send to be moved to a personal folder?

I have exchange server 5.5, outlook 2003. I found a rule that copy messages
that are stored on sent itens, but it isn't what I need.

Thank you !

That's exactly what you need. Turn off saving to Sent Items in the Tools | Options dialog.

Sry,

Let me give more detais about what I need.

We use an exchange server, due we have limited stored (about 50 MB), that
constantly reach the limit. I need to keep the sent itens. So I'd like to
move the sent messages to a personal folder automatcally.

If I turn off the save sent itens, I'll not have the sent e-mails

Tks!

False. They'll be in the folder where your rule moved them. Didnt try it,
did you?

Hello Filipe,

could you set up your rules as proposed by Sue and Brian ?

I guess I am trapped in the same situation than you since I am working with
Outlook.
Before I was working with Lotus Notes, where upon sending a mail I can
simply define the folder in which the sent message should be moved to by
pressing the "Sent & File" button rather than the Send button.

Now I am looking for the same option.
So far I set up my Outlook with 2 rules:
1) Rule in which I say that all messages sent are moved to the inbox.
2) In rule 2 I made Outlook show the message as read message (whenever my
account is the sender).

Still, I have to move the sent message from the Inbox to the desired folder.

To define a rule for this movement is nonsense, since I do not want to
specify 250 or what rules for each person in my contact list.

Are you facing the same problem ?? - Did you find an answer to that ?

Does Brian or Sue have a good answer - I look forward to it !

In addition to DL's suggestion, in the compose window, before clicking Send,
you can click View>Options and specify there the folder in which to save the
message.

DL and Brian,

thanks for your hints !

I like the VBA idea, I had some problems finding the "built-in
ThisOutlookSession module", but I will spend more time on the weekend finding
it.

For the Options Button on the Compose window, this is a good workaround.

It's easy to find: ThisOutlookSession is the module already present when you open the Outlook VBA environment for the first time.
