Rules Wizard

Denis Mortell

I subscribe to two email groups. Both of these generate a LOT of messages.
Therefore, I have set up a folder for each group, and a Rule for each
folder. This Rule places all the messages in their respective folders
keeping my Inbox clear.

During normal day-to-day downloads this works fine. Each message is put
where it should be.

However, if I go away for, say, a week and return to many messages, I have a
problem. When I begin downloading the messages, a window opens saying that
the messages from these groups cannot be put in their respective folders.
So, it starts putting them in my Inbox.

Then, a second message opens saying that there is a problem with system
resources or memory and the messages are being put in the Inbox. It asks me
to close all other programs before continuing. But, there are no other
programs open!

This computer is a Pentium 4 2.5Ghz with 512Mb RAM, so it is no slouch.

This is obviously a bug in Outlook. When faced with many, many messages to
download it cannot devote the resources to executing the Rules.

How can I fix this? How can I give it more resources?

Many thanks.

Denis
