"Run As" to use elevated privileges not working

I cannot seem to run any office product (word/excel/powerpoint/access) with
elevated privileges. I select "Run As" but never receive a login prompt. I
have no problems with "Run As" using other MS tools (i.e. SMS or SQL) or
third party products but when I try to start an office product - no go. I
don't get the login box and the product never starts, either.

Is there a security option that makes this feature unavailable, or does
anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem might be?

Thanks,
Mary Elizabeth

Since this is only tangentially related to Office, I would start by posting
to a group that supports my operating system. Runas is a command that is
included with the OS, not Office.

As it happens, I was able to finally figure this out.

When Office is installed, the icons created for Excel (word/pp/access) have
a target which simply says "Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003".
This is grayed out and cannot be changed, so far as I can tell. When I
attempt "Run As" against this icon, it does not work.

I created a new icon for Excel, which specifically targeted "c:\program
files\microsoft office\office11\excel.exe" and the "Run As" command works as
expected.
