run office 97 under windows xp

I got a new computer with Windows XP and have activated the trial of
Office2003 which has now expired. Instead of upgrading to Office 2003 I
installed my old version of Office 97. It works OK except that when I open a
file it defaults to Office 2003. How can I change this default to Office 97?
