Running 97 frontend backend

Dave

I have been sent 2 zipped db files in Access 97 - backend
as stored on users file server and copy of frontend as
stored on each users pc. I can open the backend and
examine data & tables etc. but when the frontend is
opened it tries to open the backend using the pathname
from the users system. How can I redirect the path to run
front & back on my standalone pc? I'm also using Access
2000.

When you open the frontend, you can use Tools, Database Utilities, Linked
Table Manager to point to the new location of the backend on your computer.

Access can't get as far as properly opening the frontend -
it loads the database name in the top title bar then
displays a message window saying:-

"'server pathname/backend name' is not a valid path.Make
sure that the pathname is spelled correctly and that you
are connected to the server on which the file resides."

Linked Table Manager is greyed out as db has not loaded
properly.

Thanks Joan - thats done it along with F11 to display the
db windows and i had to convert the 97db to 2000 before
the Linked Table Manager would show & allow me to write
out the new pathname.
Thanks again.
