Julie,
I understand that there are major differences between Access97 and later
versions of Access.
As already stated Excel97 works fine on WindowsXP and XL97 is compatible
with XL2002. However, make sure you test any code written for XL97 on the
later versions, as problems do occur. My cynical view is that
"compatibility" means code can be written that works on multiple versions,
not that existing code will work.

Hi Norman
thanks for the response & how's things going on your side of the country ?
i asked the question as i'm developing an access database which exports
data and they wanted it in access 97 exporting to excel 97 and now one of
the principles has commented:
"I am replying early as there are concerns about the use of Access 97 and
Excel 97. Our host agency is moving from Access 2000 to XP. I cannot
confirm, at this time, if the Department can supply Access 97 and Excel 97
and whether they will support the software. I am told that these older
packages are not fully compatible with XP and some conflicts occur with
printing reports and exporting text forms."
have you heard about these report printing / exporting problems?
Cheers
Julie
