Safari font issues with Office 2008

After just installing Office 2008 on my mac (Power PC with latest version of Leopard), I've run across font issues with Safari (also the latest version). Specifically, text is scrunched together and unreadable. I'm assuming there's a font conflict here.

See if restarting your Mac solved the problem. If it doesn't, download
Onyx and run its font cache cleaning routine.

This sounds like a font cache problem. Restart your computer to rebuild
your font caches. If that doesn't fix the problem then look into a font
cache cleaning utility such as Cocktail.

Hope this helps!

I have run into the same problem and found that when MS Office 208 installed it created a directory of "Fonts Disabled" in your users Library Directory.

Many of these fonts like Ariel and Lucinda family were in there. I used OS X Font utility to start poking around. MS Office 2008 installed a bunch of MS Office Compatible fonts. I experimented with disabling some of these and re-installing some of the fonts from the /Users/<username>/Library/Fonts Disabled directory.

I have seen even worse corruption of text in Mail and was able to fix these. I will keep watching this forum and others to see if there is a better solution.

Who knows what has happened with Word and the other MS products now that I have replaced the system standard fonts.

DId you restart your machine to force OSX to recreate the font cache?
