Save a spreadsheet in.csv format ?

When I use the Save As option under file, and save as a tab or comma
delimited format, the spreadsheet still looks the same. I need it to have the
commas and the quotation marks around the names and email address so I can
upload my list to my email blaster.

I have put the names and email address of my clients in an excel spreadsheet
and now I can't do anything with them, unless I can copy them someway with a
text file converter.

Don't look at the .CSV file using excel.

Look at the .CSV file using Notepad.

If it still looks wrong, maybe you could use a macro that wrote the data the way
you want.

Earl Kiosterud's Text Write program:
www.smokeylake.com/excel
(or directly: http://www.smokeylake.com/excel/text_write_program.htm)

Chip Pearson's:
http://www.cpearson.com/excel/imptext.htm

J.E. McGimpsey's:
http://www.mcgimpsey.com/excel/textfiles.html

======
Earl's may be sufficient right out of the box. He supports lots of options.

I have tried several different ways to get the data into a notepad, once i
copied and saved but it still doesn't have the right characters around the
data.

Did you try Earl's text write program?

I have it, (don't know what to do with it) my computer said my secruity was
to high to run the macros, i lowered them and they still don't let me. I went
to the other links you gave me (thank you by the way) and am trying to
understand them now.

I have seen a number of people have the same problem I have and have read
quite a bit in this area now. I am just trying to understand all this
computer talk.

by the way, if I save as a tab file and then how do i open it up in notepad?
Thanks again

Well Dave something must have worked, it asked me some questions about what I
wanted to do and I was able then to upload it successfully. THANK YOU- I HAVE
BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR 2 DAYS!!!

Just a guess. You lowered security, then reopened Earl's workbook.

If you just lower security, it doesn't affect any already open workbook.

(And you found that you can open Notepad and just do File|Open to view that
file, right?)

well I found note pad in the desk top file I had created to put the excel
file in. It was right there all the time and I didn't know what it was. I was
trying to copy and paste in a notepad with the right format and it wasn't
working. But I didn't have that text wizard earlier that prompted me until
you sent me the link. Thank you a 1000nd times.
