Save As - changes name of the file I want to save

When I use the "save as" function, (for example if want to save a file that I
received as an email attachment with its original name) and my mouse pointer
accidentally floats over the name of another file in the target directory
list - it automatically changes the name of the file I want to save to the
name of the file my pointer passes over - and than asks me if I want to
overwrite the old file!!!! So then I have to remember the name (could be
long & complicated) of the file I want to save. So I have to start over.
It's a big time waster for me. Any ideas how I can prevent this - seems that
this did not use to happen before and I'd have to click on the name of an
existing file (not just float over it) to adopt it as the name of my new file!

Go to Control Panel, Folder Options, General tab, and change to
Double-click instead of Single-click.

Wow, that's odd. Your cursor not only has to float over another file name,
but your mouse also has to click to select the other file in the list.

Are you using a laptop with a touchpad? Maybe your thumb is hitting the pad
while you're typing in the name of your document.

Or maybe try changing your mouse settings in the Windows Control Panel.

When you say "this didn't happen before" -- well, before what? What's
changed recently on the system?

Yep! changing to double clicking has reduced my risk of fatal heart attack
considerably - - - do you 'guys' ever consider how much you help reduce the
general level of stress in the community????? You get my vote!
Thanks
