Save As gives error on network, between XP and Win98 OS's

Our office is currently runnig a file server running Windows 98, while our
other machines are running Win XP. We had no problems until recently but now
we are unable to open an existing document and then perform a "save as". It
gives a file or directory error.

There was a post yesterday of a person with a similar problem, but today the
post has disappeared.

Can someone tell me how to fix this problem? Also, what happened to the post?
