Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, left-click on
Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnected any mapped drives that are not
currently available.

I tried your method on my user's PC, and it didn't solve the problem. She had
no disconnected network drives. Any other ideas??

I've the same problem as valili. But i work in a big enterprise and i cannot
disable the network drives (our users need their access to their personnal
folder, public shares, ...)

Any idea or patch?
Our OS is win200 pro SP4

Thanks

Hi Nicolas,

You only need to disconnect drive mapping for 'drives'
that are not available to you.

The Office apps are basically waiting for the
drives that are set as 'should be there' to be there.

On my laptop I have mapped drives on my desktop and they all appear to be
connected. On my desktop my drives on my laptop are also connected.

HOWEVER, on my laptop all my attempts to OPEN files cause the open box to
appear blanked and causes a very quick crash. Is there an idiots guide to
all this beyond someone saying "just disconnect a mapped drive that isn't
connected" because that isn't working.

I bet you have an HP scanner or camera software/driver installed. Try
diabling the Windows Image Acquisition in Services. This has worked for me,
although I wish MS or HP would come up a better solution.

Yet another happy customer!

Had the same problem after downloading some fonts, even though I scanned
them for virusses. Could not figure out why all of a sudden I could not save
my office documents and that the applications always froze and stopped
running whenever I tried. Still don't understand how disconnecting network
drive would have done the trick, but it did!

Thanks for stopping me from going absolutely mad whilst the work is piling
up...

I don't really follow this solution... The only drives I have mapped are
accessable and nessecery for day to day operations... I also can not
disconnect all network resources.... Am I reading this solution correctly?

Bob,

I followed all the instructions in the article this did not help... Then I
followed a lead from the article... These two users had installed either an
HP printer or scanner themselves with all the accompaning applications...
Uninstalling the "HP Share to Web" application seemed to do the trick....

Thanks
