Save As Picture command - resulting JPEGs, GIFs are fuzzy

I am creating diagrams in PowerPoint 2003 and then using the Save As Picture
command to export them as JPEGs (usually) or GIFs for use on the web. When I
open the resulting image in a browser or in Photoshop, it is visibly fuzzier
than the PPT original.

Are there any settings or add-ins that will preserve the image quality? A
colleague of mine who uses PPT/Office 2007 does not have this problem. I
would prefer not to upgrade to 2007 solely to solve this problem, if I can
avoid it.

Thank you!

Steve,
Thank you for your response to my post. The web page to which you referred
me discusses exporting entire slides or documents via the File>Save As...
command. In my case I am trying to export individual objects from within a
slide using the Right-Click>Save As Picture... command.

Does the information and software tool also apply to my scenario? Thank you,
Josh

Steve,
That worked well. Specifically, I saved from PPT to EMF, then opened in
Irfanview, re-sized and saved as JPEG. The resulting quality was much better
than saving directly from PPT to JPEG. thanks for your help.
Josh
