"SAVE AS" prompt in all office suites

I am experiencing trouble using MS Office 2000. Does anyone know why every
office application repeatedly brings up the "Save As" dialog box - even when
i have already saved the file to a correct location. This is happening in
excel, word and ppt.

Does this happen only after changes to an existing file have been made, or
does it also occur when existing files are being closed without any changes
being made?
