'SAVE AS' WINDOW ICONS DONT WORK Excel 2000 SP3

I am having a really strange intermittent problem with the Save As window
where all the icons just stop working. For example, when you click on the new
folder icon, or any of the favourites like My Documents, nothing happens. The
icon doesn’t depress and the function doesn’t happen.

Any one else had this? How do you repair it? I have already run the Office
repair tool.

This may not be the problem, but I can get a delay (not a stop, though), when I
have lots of files/folders in the list that the file|saveas dialog is trying to
show.

And the same kind of thing, when I'm mapped to lots of drives and want to change
the drive using the dropdown at the top of the dialog box.

Any chance this matches your situation?

If it does, maybe you can use windows explorer and create some subfolders and
organize your workbooks by moving them into their respective subfolders.
