I tried to save an html file with a different name in a different folder but
when i make changes to it, it changes the original file's content too.

Any ideas as to how I can stop this from happening?

?? The "original file" is now the "saved=as" one. I don't know why it
should do that. It depends on which copy you open - did you open the
original copy in Frontpage (rather than the one you saved to the other
location?).

It won't and shouldn't save two instances of the one file to two different
folders.

definitely did not open the original copy.. i don't know why it does that....
what if i have a template , could that cause it?

Only if the template is a FP2003 Dynamic Web Template, and you edit
the template.
If the pages use shared borders, it is possible you edited the shared
border area - this will affect all pages that use the shared border
(not just the 2 in question).
