Save error Office 2007

Hello,

We are using Office Enterprise 2007 and we are having the following problem:

When we try to save a document from any of the office applications on a
network path we are receiving the error:
'\\<network-share>\document.doc' is currently in use. Try again later.

The behaviour appears on all computers we've installed the office suite,
although for some it's only about saving in the 97-2003 .doc format and for
some it's about saving in any format. We ran the Office Diagnostics program
and found no errors about the product and we tried different share and
security rights combinations (including everyone modify right) but it didn't
help. I mention that saving the document locally and then copying it to the
network share is working.

Any help is appreciated.

I am having the same exact issue since installing Office 2007. I can not
save changes to a document opened through our network. However, I can save it
locally and then copy it over the old version on the server. The issue
happens in Word and Excel. I have not found any solutions yet. Todd

I think I figured it out with Microsoft. We have Bitdefender antivirus and
apparently the antivirus is causing the error. We tried to save after we
disabled the virus shield and it worked like a charm.
Don't know if that aplies to you Todd.

Wow, well I know that I personally have been having the same problem,
it's been quite a hassle. I DO have BitDefender, I never would have
thought of this as being a problem. I really don't want to have to
turn that off in order to save the files properly, but it looks like I
might have to change Scanners.

In bitdefender you can exclude scanning of xls and doc file and that
will fix the problem.
Note, if you have scanning on the server, do it there as well.

:frown: FYI: This is not an advisable solution in a business
environment. Macro viruses are one of the biggest enemies to a network
and allowing all Word docs and Excel spreadsheets to be opened without
scanning is a BAD idea.

I too have a client that is having this problem. His issue is that he
leaves Word open all day and when he tries to close Word at the end of
the day, it prompts him that the file is currently in use.... He has
found that if he saves a new document it will then close.

Hello all,

I can confirm that I have been having this issue. I have a brand new
Vista PC with SP1, Office 2007, Bit Defender (trial) and virtually
nothing else installed.

The issue raises itself when I save Excel documents to my NAS (which
runs linux).

I can also confirm that by putting Bit Defender into "Game Mode" solves
the problem. However, I don't want to leave this on permanently.

I'm about to check in with the Bit Defender site, but if I can't
resolve it then it looks like I'll be seeking an alternate Virus
Checker.

Carl.
