Save location

In the good old days Save As would make a new document in the same
folder as the original. Now Microsoft Word:Mac v.x very unhelpfully
saves into the last folder I saved into.

Frx I open a Laber template and instead of saving into Laber it'll save
into DeConcini (the last folder I saved into).

Is there a way to turn off this annoying, time wasting feature?
