save only few shapes as a layer from the whole drawing

Hi,

I have to create two Visio drawings, drawing1 contains a whole lot of shapes
and for each shape object, a text object is created in a different area of
the page.
The above works fine.
For drawing2, I am meant to save only the shapes from drawing1 (not the text
shapes) and insert it in drawing2.
So the inserted image will be a layer basically.
How do i select only a portion of drawing 1 and save?

I don't think you can just save part of a drawing. One possiblity is to
copy all shapes from drawing1 to the clipboard, create drawing2, paste,
then delete the shapes from drawing2 that you don't want.
