Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have some word docx files that I loaded fine in Word. However when I tried to save them as doc files I got the message:Word was unable to save the document as the file type you specified. Word was unable to save the document as the file type you specified.
I am using Word 2008 version 12.2.3.
The compatibility report indicates no problems.

Any ideas?

Network or local machine?

If you are saving to a network, set the owner account of the share to
"Network Service" and it will work. Send your system administrator in here
if you do not know how to do that, and we will explain it to him or her.

If you are saving to a local machine only, check that your OS X is fully
up-to-date, then repair permissions with Disk Utility, and reboot.

That may help, but probably won't.
