When trying to use "saveas" in any Office 2000 programs, the programs hangs
up and I get a message "Not responding"

How can I correct the problems? I have the latest updates installed.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop,
left-click on Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped
drives that are not currently available.

I have had the same problem with MS Word and Excel. It is a MAJOR BUG THAT
HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED (at least in Office 2000) BY MICROSOFT. Bascially, when
trying to "save as" a file into another folder when a mapped drive is not
connected (you AREN'T trying to save to the disconnected mapped drive..just
to another dirve) MS Word or Excel completely hangs the programs(excel/word).
MS Excel or Word should be able to completely skip a mapped drive that is
not connected after 1-2 seconds if it is not connecting without hanging up
the whole program. When clicking the "X" when this occurs the whole program
crashes and you lose all your data. I don't understand why this is still a
problem and has never been fixed???????????????
This is important for users when your machine is a client on a network where
you have no control over the mapping of the network drives and trying to get
IT to identify the problem and fix it can take MONTHS. Microsoft should
issue a patch to fix this!!!!!!!!!!!

STOP mapping to unavailable resources.

The problem is at your end. I don't think I've ever had that problem and if
I did, I'm sure I was able to get around it.
