Saved message file names are parsed without user notification

E

EricfOlson

Outlook is parsing message file names during Save-As or Drag-and-Drop
commands and not notifying the user of the change and without any apparent
valid reason for doing so. If a period or square brackets was used in a
message subject line it will be replaced by a space when saved as a message
file.
SUGGESTIONS:
1 - Follow the file naming convetions used by the host operating system
(Windows 2000) which allows these characters.
2 - I you must make a change to the file names you should at least advise
the user.
3- If any characters can not be used for file names then they should not be
allowed for subject line characters either as they may need to be field
verbatim down the road.
