Saved pages and menus in Word are not sharp, light text with lots.

Just upgraded to XP Professional from XP Home. When I open old documents in
Word, the text is washed out and looks brown. Even the address in the
address bar pixelated (dots) and not at all sharp. The saved pictures within
the documents look fine, but the text is a mess. Any ideas?
