SAVEDATE followup

Yes, the SAVEDATE field , including TIME IS checked...but it
does NOT update.

When you test this, are you making an actual change in the
document, like adding an extra space somewhere or inserting
another type of character? If (a) you have the SAVEDATE filed
inserted correctly, (b) you open the file and make a change, and
(c) save the file on a different date than the previous time you
saved it, then the date should be updated and when you open it
again it will reflect the last saved date. I'd guess that you are
not actually making any changes to the document, and, therefore,
it's not really being saved in a new state.

Thanks, Jose...yes to all questions. I am making a change...I am saving the
"new" document, but when I reopen, the SAVEDATE field still has the original
date the document was created.

Hi Bob

Have you tried updating the field? This is where you need to apply the macro
efforts - not in inserting the field, which will behave exactly the same way
whether inserted using Insert > Field or via a macro.

As Suzanne said, there is no 'update automatically' option for fields in
general - some fields (such as DATE and TIME) do update, some don't and some
do or don't depending on Word version and where they appear in the document
(header or main text).
