Saving a slide for general web use

I am attempting to save a slide (PPT 2002) for use in a web page. I need to
maintain the animation. I saved it as a web page and it worked reasonably
well in IE, but fell totally apart in Netscape no matter what browser version
changes I made when saving. SO, I am now attempting to save it as an
animated .gif. From what I am reading in the help file, it seems that this
should be possible, but when I actually do it, I get a static image that
looks really awful.

Is there a good way to do this, or do I just need to scrap my plan to use
powerpoint for this project and try something different?

Thanks in advance for your help!

PPT doesn't have an option to save out as an animated GIF. You can, though,
save static GIF images, as you've discovered.

You might check into one of the options to convert PPT to Flash (Articulate,
Breeze, Presentation Pro, etc.) or to Java (impatica).
http://www.echosvoice.com/autoruncdlinks.htm has links. (Someone else has a
more up-to-date list of PPT-to-Flash programs, but I can't remember where it
is.)

Thnanks very much for the input. I'll look into those other programs - I am
looking for a Flash effect, but I work for a not-for-profit so I have to find
a cheaper solution.
