Saving a webpage hangs in FP

I along with others are having tremendously long save
times that hang for 30 minutes for example, when updating
existing webpages to our intranet. We do not maintain the
server. We use Windows 2000 w/ SR4, Office XP and FP2000.
I tried to install Office SR1a, and then SR3 but with no
luck. They errored out, I guess due to having Office XP, I
would guess. The server admin says his FPXP works OK.
Tried to upgrade to FPXP however save hang time persists.
Any ideas? Any suggestions would be most appreicated. We
thank you in advance.

where are you saving to that's hanging? i.e. to the "live web" on the
server or is it hanging when you try to save to your local computer?

Delete the cached (and possibly corrupted) copies of your webs - Close
FrontPage, and do a Find | Files and Folders | Named *.web, and delete them.

It should also be noted the changes do happen but the
webpage never stops saving. We have to end task it.
