Saving a word document as a PDF form

Neil Evans

Hi, I have forms in word which I would like to save as forms in PDF, which
people can directly fill out but not amend. I have seen this done but think
3rd party software is required.

If not is there a secure way of doing this as a word document.

Thanks for any suggestions

Yes Adobe Acrobat Pro has this feature and I suspect some of the other
PDF creation software does this also.

Acrobat Pro will allow you create a form to do that. People with Reader 7.0
or newer can fill it out and email it back. I will warn you that many novice
users seem to have issues with it. (Yes, this is the voice of experience
talking.)

Hi, Neil,

FYI, you can do this to an extent in Word by using form fields, then
protecting your Word document from editing (with the exception of filling in
the fields). That can be a good option if all your form users have Word,
but the PDF solution is more elegant and probably more accessible by more
people.
