Saving as PDF

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have a docx file that I am trying to save as pdf. I get an error message that Word can not communicate with the printer. I have a Brother MFC-9840CDW that I have been using and have had no problems saving to pdf before. I have also tried to print>save as pdf and get the same error.

Ha Ha..Is my printer on? Of course my printer is on. I can print, I can save as PDF from other programs. I can actually save to pdf in some files within Word, but for some reason a few files are telling me they cannot connect to the printer. I found a work around. I copy everything from the document and then open a new document and paste. I save that document and then I can save to pdf. Why? I have no idea. That is what I am trying to find out.

Confirm that Office (12.2.3), Snow Leopard (10.6.2) *&* your printer driver
are all fully updated. Check Brother's site rather than waiting for an OS X
update to catch you up... Brother is one brand whose heels have dragged a
bit with regard to updates for OS X. Run Disk Utility - Repair Disk
Permissions as well even if no updates are needed.

It's also possible that you've encountered one of the font conflict issues
that have arisen with Snow Leopard ‹ That could explain why you have
difficulties with some documents but not others. If you continue to have the
problem after confirming the update levels reply with additional descriptive
details about the problem documents.

If you open the new document you created, and try to save to PDF again, does
it work then?

Word stores the configuration details for the last printer used in each
document.

If that printer is indeed not available, you will get that error message
under certain circumstances. If the fixed document can be saved to PDF a
second time, that indicates that the first document either stored a bad
printer definition, or that first document has become corrupted.

Hope this helps
